The Acropolis (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Wow, this book reminds me of the Percy Jackson books. I like the way it is written a lot. Can’t wait to read what is going to happen next.Poor Emma for discovering she is not dying at all, she is all those years ill because she is a half blood. Her real mother is a powerful demon. Conor is there to take Emma to a special school so she can learn what to do with her powers. But is this the real purpose of this school? Conor doesn’t like demons, cause they killed his father, but he gets a weak spot for Emma who is so nice. He volunteers to be her guardian and from them things happen and their world is turned upside down for real. A great addition the the paranormal world created in the Redemption series. It was well-written, fast-paced and had a great mix of action, suspense, drama and romance. I was a bit sceptical about this book as in my experience spin-off series almost always aren't as good as the original series (books and TV). However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that The Acropolis does nothing but add to the Redemption series, both in terms of the overall storyline and in filling in the details on Conor's character. I didn't really like Conor much in the original series but then again I didn't really know much about him. In this book I got to know him and liked his straightforward approach, honesty, loyalty and bravery. I liked that a simple girl made him question his beliefs about the Hybrids and the Gargoyles long-standing prejudice against anything associated with Demons. I also really liked getting to know Emma and I loved how strong a character she was once you look under her timid and unassuming surface. Her powers were pretty awesome and I can't wait to read the next book to see what will happen as she begins to learn to use them properly and becomes the leader that can unite the Hybrids. I'd recommend picking up this book if you've read the original Redemption trilogy and are looking for more. You can read this without reading the Redemption books but I don't think it would be half as good if you did it that way.
