The Bedwetter: Stories Of Courage, Redemption, And Pee (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

This was a quick and mostly hilarious book, written in a very conversational tone, which is what I guess most non professional prose writers end up sounding like. All I knew about Sarah Silverman before was her Jesus is Magic film, and I really liked it, so I thought I'd read her book. The only thing really lacking in this book is a point, it goes in pretty much chronological order, recounting her life in funny ways, but it just veers here and there too much, it really lacks cohesion, and just kind of peters out at the end with some talk about Jews making Jew jokes, etc. A little too amateurish for me as a book, but there's no doubt that Sarah Silverman is a comedic genius, and I can't wait to watch her show. Very funny, and surprisingly insightful. It read easy, and Sarah's storytelling transitioned so nicely and read so fluidly, it was actually pretty hard to put down. My only problem with the book was the lack of a linear timeline that memoirs tend to follow. She skipped around in times of her life, and it threw me off a little bit- one moment talking about losing her virginity, and the next talking about being in third grade. At one point, mentioning getting nominated for an Emmy for The Sarah Silverman Program before even mentioning anything about the actual program. That being said, though, I genuinely enjoyed this book from start to finish.

This book held it's own in the very beginning but then became in-funny very fast.
