The Billionaire Banker #1Lana's mother is sick with cancer. They are very poor and live in the council flats. She thinks that she can save her if she can get her into a program in the US. But she needs money. She has only one thing to sell - herself and her virginity. Lana goes out to dinner with Rupert, a rich a**hole. He grosses her out but she needs to help her mother. Blake sees Lana at the restaurant and he wants her. He cannot stand Rupert and wonders what this beautiful woman is doing with him. He invites them to a party that night. He knows Rupert will come.Rupert starts negotiating with Lana. What he wants is horrible. They get to the party and he only gets more disgusting. Lana runs to the ladies room and throws up. She is scared of him.Blake is waiting outside the bathroom for her and takes her away to talk to her. He says he will pay double what Rupert is going to pay. He thinks she is a hooker. Rupert gets angry when he finds them. But Lana feels safer with Blake and she is going to get 100, 000 pounds!Blake does not know what he is getting and Lana doesn't have time to tell him. He arranges for her to go to the doctor, lawyer, spa and buy clothing the next day. What will happen when he finds out that Lana is untouched?I loved it - on to the next one! I liked the book. It is based in the UK. Lana is a poor girl who is selling her virginity so she can pay to send her mother to the USA for cancer treatments. She offers herself to one man, a real brute, but Blake (the richest of the richest billionaires) overhears a part of the offer and makes his own deal with Lana. Blake is surprised the first time they have sex. He did not realize Lana was a virgin. So that puts a different spin on how Blake thinks about Lana. The story does not delve into it but it seems Blake has a pull towards Lana. I don't think he understands it. Lana feels the same thing. Blake has a sort of arranged marriage. Lana finds out about it and she is heartbroken but she keeps her promise to be with him until SHE, the woman Blake is supposed to marry interfers. Lana also has a secret. So he runs......
3.5 Stars - A good start! I like the set up and Blake comes across as cool, aloof and somewhat likeable. He is the knight in shining armour rescuing Lana from certain doom at the hands of a snake. And she is in an untenable situation.I take issue with Lana's age though. I find it hard to believe when the heroine is under 25. At least she has her mother's oversight. She's not quite "out on her own" yet so that grounds her youth for me in reality - a bit. It's funny to me how reckless these characters are about contraception when there's so much at stake for them.An entertaining read!

This should have been a 5S if not for the crappy-ish phasing of the story. I've liked the plot when I first read it and so I gave it a try and my oh my did it hold to its promise. This is my kind of story really, poor girl meets rich boy. I have a soft spot for struggling and vulnerable heroine HA!I enjoyed the first 75% of the book but then the phasing went crazy-frustrating. Like, did I miss a page or something? It went really fast then. It has a cliffy end so I went straight to the second book and currently enjoying it...so far.
