This book was one of the best non fiction books that I have ever read! And that’s saying a lot, because I really don’t enjoy reading non fiction. This story had a way of grasping you mind and making you feel all the pain that the main character felt. The story is so inspiring it makes you think, could I have done what she and many others did when I was that age? This book has quite a lot of gore and violence so if you get scared easily I wouldn’t recommend this book to you. This book is definitely one of my top ten books, fiction and non fiction. I hope this review helps you pick up this book and read it. A simple telling of a horrific time in Sierra Leone. So sobering now as they are now suffering greatly with the Ebola outbreak. The author's telling makes me realize how lucky I am just because of place of birth and loving family to raise me.It's so good to keep informed of some of what's going on in the 3rd world countries as the Ebola outbreak shows us that we are not isolated entities anymore and that we really are our sister's keeper.
Very powerful read. It really helps you to appreciate the fact thats you have no experience of war.
