This is a story of a young boy who starts from plowing fields in the early 1900’s to creating one of the world’s most popular inventions: the television. Philo Farnsworth was truly a self-taught young man. Through hard work and trial and error experiments throughout his life until he finally got it right, Philo finally invented a box that would bring families together all over the world. It’s sad that he never received credit for his invention until after he passed away, but through this book, he receives the respect he deserves. Written by Kathleen Krull (2009)& illustrated by Greg Couch. Illustrationgs were created primarly with acrylic wash with coloted pencil and dry brush. Great nonfiction biography picture book. It tells of Philo's early life, how he thought of the television, got funding for his invention, and trials with getting it patended. He went on to invent other things also. Great book with more info in the author's note on back pages and websites & list of young reader books on the subject.
