This book changed my life. When I read this book in August I was the type of bookworm who appreciated any novel for what it was. I even enjoyed *cringe* young adult fiction. My taste has matured significantly over the last year and it was this book which pushed me to my limits and cracked the bottled up hatred I have acquired over the last while of reading. Carrie reminds me if the people I am surrounded by daily. She lives in small town Connecticut and she pathetically believes she is different from her peers. Her town is full of ignorant people, unfortunately this Carrie is not covered in pig's blood NOR violently murders her school chums. Her life is ridiculous level of ordinary and I did not care about what happened to her at any point during this novel. It could have been worse but this novel was the tipping point which pushed me to sink into an endless(?) sea of rich literature. I have escaped (with only minor brain damage) the world of dull writing and painful stories that is young adult fiction and I owe it to Candace Bushnell. Thank you kindly. Being a huge fan of the t.v show Carrie Diaries, I was not shocked that I loved the book just as much if not more! For those of you who have not seen the show or read the book, I definitely recommend picking up a copy from your local library, bookstore, etc... The author Candace Bushnell tells a great story about a small town girl with big hopes and dreams. The Carrie Diaries is an awesome, well written story, that most teenage girls would enjoy! In the novel, you follow Carrie through her senior year of high school. Along the way she finds romance with one of her old friends Sebastion Kydd, meets new friends, reconnects with old ones, and persues her dream carrer of becoming a writer. As Carrie starts to make a name for herself, her love for new York city continues to grow, and many new adventures await her. Read as Carrie experiences new York at its finest, fashion, night life, and the amazing parties. I would recommend this book to a classmate, friend or even an adult. Its definitely a book worth the read!
What do You think about The Carrie Diaries CD (2010)?
