This is a stand-alone story that could have been a good opener to a series. It's a typical Anya Bast Paranormal Romance, meaning there's an interesting, pretty well-written story with a fair amount of sex. Speaking of the sex, there's a great build-up to the middle climax and from there it's all pillow talk. But it really is a pretty good story so don't let the sex problems stop you from reading it. This was my first Anya Bast book and I really enjoyed it. I'm not a big fan of sci-fi, but this had enough story going that it kept my interest despite the sci-fi stuff. I loved Alejandro in all his alpha sexiness; and Daria was a nice counterpoint to his 'straight man' personality. The story flowed nicely and I didn't find myself skipping over fluff in the book. My only possible negative comment would be that I found the culmination of the story and the comeuppance of the bad guy to be a little anti-climatic. Unfortunately I started feeling really sorry for Sante and by the time the end came around, I was hoping for a different outcome.Overall, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading another of Anya's. :)
