Book two in the series, this one could stand alone, but is better (I think) to read after the first book. The premise here is a bit more "love at first rape" (i.e.: not terribly believable). The heroine once killed the fiancée of the hero. He hates her. But lusts for her the moment they are thrown together. And that is after years of his plotting to kill her. Huh? I have to say that although the premise is a bit thin, i still liked this book. It's fluff. but tasty fluff. Since reading Wicked Enchantment I have anxiously been waiting for the next book in the Dark Magick series. Cruel Enchantment didn't leave me down, it was a great second book to what it destined to be a great series. Cruel Enchantment has something for everyone it is full of revenge, betrayal, magic, and romance. Anya creates a rich world, with both traditional fae mythology, with new twists. Emmalime was a strong yet tortured character. I loved that Emmaline was a survivor and wasn't afraid to kick a little butt when needed. Emmaline once was the Summer Queen's assassin and now centuries later she is trying to atone for the lives she took. I found I enjoyed reading about her past as an assassin, and seeing how far she has come. The grown in Emmaline throughout Cruel Enchantment was amazing. I loved her unique ability for personal glamor.I enjoyed the struggle within Aeric over Emmaline. Aeric hated Emmaline for killing his fiance, and wanted to revenge for her. The relationship between Aeric and Emmaline was amazing. I loved how much they both overcame to be together. They were such an unlikely couple, especially with their past as it was, but they came to love each other and the passion between them was explosive. The suspense throughout Cruel Enchantment made it impossible to put it down once I started reading it. Cruel Enchantment will have you on a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Cruel Enchantment was everything I wanted it to be and more. I can't wait for for the third book in the Dark Magic series, Dark Enchantment , that will be released April 5, 2011. The Dark Magick series, is definitely one of my favorite fae series, and one I suggest to all urban fantasy, and paranormal readers.
What do You think about Cruel Enchantment (2010)?
