I wasn't sure what to expect in reading this book. I had seen it and it had looked interesting but after reading the first couple of chapters I asked myself why. But I kept reading and I'm so glad I did. This book was great. I love books and this just reinforces that the wonderful thing about books and stories is that you can identify with them. There is a story for everyone and you just have to find them. This book was as good as I had hoped for. It was light-hearted and yet it resonated me. Probably because I have always been a book nerd and I too want to connect through books.A.J. Fikry is a man who has disconnected from life, probably because he has disconnected from his books. He has done this because his beloved wife has died and their life has been so tied to books and their bookstore. But then he loses a prized book and finds a new connection - a toddler who has been left in his store. The book is really for that girl who he adopts for reasons that are unveiled at the end of the book. Cliched, perhaps, but that makes this book no less touching and sweet. And then for all of us book nerds A.J. connects through books which many of us can relate too. Glad it's one of the last books of the year.
This was an endearing story. I read it in one sitting. Loved this author's perspective.
