The Come-back Girl (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

First of all, I know that as a 20 year old boy, I am not the target audience for Katie Price novels. However, I am a huge fan of Katie's, so therefore I have read all of her books and don't really care what people think about that. I am also fully aware that Katie doesn't physically write the books herself and employs a ghost writer, but Katie is involved with what happens in each chapter so essentially, it IS her story. With all Katie Price novels, there isn't much to think about whilst reading them, and that is something I strongly love about her books. Sometimes you don't want to read something that requires a lot of thought, and instead want to read something light and still entertaining, and I think Katie Price's novels are the best kind for that! The Comeback Girl tells the story of Eden Haywood, who was once a famous and successful pop singer who had it all, but is now more known for her troubled personal life and kiss-and-tell stories her previous boyfriends have sold on her. The book is pretty much about how Eden becomes a judge on fictional TV talent show "Band Ambition" (which totally isn't a rip off of The X Factor at all...) and falls in love with Stevie, a contestant on the show, whilst trying to reclaim her celebrity.I personally really enjoyed this book (like all Katie Price novels), and not just because I'm a Katie Price super fan! There isn't anything really significantly different about this book plotwise than there is in her other books, but to me this book is my stand out favourite because I liked the idea of a fallen from grace celebrity trying to reclaim her fame, but then falling in love with a contestant on a show she is judging...which is surely a recipe for disaster! I read this book in 2011 shortly after it was published, after meeting Katie. What drew me in was the shiny gold hardback cover sleeve, which was stacked on the table Katie was sitting at when I met her. This was the first of her novels I ever read, and have since purchased and read all of her others.I think if you're looking for something quick and light to read while you're on holiday maybe, or while you're on a long train journey, this is a perfect choice. I would warn young readers that there is a lot of sex scenes involved in all of Katie's books, so I'd bare that in mind if you're thinking of buying them for younger audiences. Took my a while to start to get into it, as it was so slow and boring. Repetitively boring.I've read all of her YA-Adult fiction books and I've definitely noticed a pattern on the story line, so it's not hard to figure out what happens in the end. It's very repetitive. Female likes a male and they end up getting together very briefly, which leads to the female being rejected and then the female finds another male in which she falls deeply in love with and then after the majority of the book, she realises she loves the first guy and that the second male she has been with has been cheating on her from day one, and then the female goes into a depressive state and couple of months later is marrying the original male. The end.All main female characters in Katie's fiction books all think they're not as pretty as they are, and as soon as Jez and the make-up artists are introduced, the female characters are suddenly beautiful-model type material.Quite a few grammar/spelling mistakes too, which isn't a good look for Katie or her ghost-writer.Her Angel series were much better. The Come-back Girl is quite boring compared to it.
