This is a lovely book to share with any child two years old or up. It would make a great baby gift too. There's a rhyming text offering one of those "how much I love you, you're so special" stories of which there are many out there (including others by author Nancy Tillman) but this one stands out because of the gorgeous illustrations depicting a baby growing up with a special crown made of "sparkling, glimmering things/like moonlight and fireflies, and dragonfly wings. In the beautifully rendered paintings, the child frolics with various wild beasts, from zebras to elephants, penguins, and cheetahs. This is a very special book that I can imagine becoming a keepsake for parents to share with their children. This is a cute, quick, inspiring read. The Crown on Your Head is a book to share with your children and grandchildren. Ms. Tillman states that the message she wants to convey with her books to children is that they are loved. I agree that Ms. Tillman hit her mark. This book does tell that message. The illustrations are beautiful. Each picture was like a watercolor photo. Because each page is short and the words are not too big, a child could read this book. I know that I will be sharing this book with my nephews. The Crown on Your Head is a masterpiece that should be cherished with all.
