The Daily Coyote: Story Of Love, Survival, And Trust In The Wilds Of Wyoming (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

This was a day-by-day journal by a woman who moves to Wyoming on her way from California to New York. She falls in love with Wyoming and immediately settles in to the rural, ranching life all by herself. She also adopts an orphaned coyote pup, even knowing her neighbors would heartily disapprove. With this setting in place, her tale of her bond with the coyote and what she learns from the experience reveal new insight into how coyotes think and behave. The daily postings were originally published in a newspaper, hence the title, "The Daily Coyote." I found the daily journal format repetitive and at times had to force myself to keep going. It was worth it. If I had been Stockton's editor, I would have changed it into a flowing narrative, without losing any of the details. More interesting than the book are the comments other people make about Shreve having a coyote in Wyoming. I would have flipped off the comment section on the blog also. It's a ballsy move to raise a coyote and then fall into almost a career sharing the story. Beautiful photos on the website. I listened to the audiobook. I admire your story and the fact that you built a life in the boonies. I live in the boonies and am searching for a job so I don't have to go to town. That has nothing to do with the book. It's a nice story.

What do You think about The Daily Coyote: Story Of Love, Survival, And Trust In The Wilds Of Wyoming (2008)?

I kept thinking there'd be a bad ending to the story, but there isn't!
