The Dark One: Dark Knight (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
If I remember correctly this is the first of Kathryn Le Veque's books that I read. I fell in love with it very quickly. I have loved every one of her books since. I am madly collecting them so I don't miss one. :) It is a very long book, which is a major plus, IMO. Gaston is wonderful. Remington is a sweet and strong woman. Sir Guy, her husband is a horribly abusive man.. This is the story of Gaston and Remington's love and their struggle to be together. I need to read it again.. :) Great fun - I think this is my favourite Le Veque so far. Gaston was a convincing hero and Remington had my sympathy the whole way through. I thought her husband, Guy, was a little to much the stereotypical villain at times. We're told how evil he is throughout the story, which, for me, made him less scary. Show me how evil he is - don't tell me! However, I thought the author handled some really tricky issues - rape and abuse - delicately and convincingly. A well-written, medieval adventure that really draws you in.
