oh my God, that was epic!probably three or four times longer than the usual books I read.after about 25% into the book, when it looked as if the h and H were about to get their HEA, I thought that there was no way it could be another 70% left of the book. no way it would be able to hold my interest. how wrong was I?what a beautiful pageturner this book was. I loved the main characters, the side characters and I could not put this down.loved it! 4.5 starsMy first Kathryn Le Veque and the start to a serious Le Veque book binge! It might need a bit of editing and the characters tend to use modern language, which is a bit jarring considering it is set in the 1200's - but it is terrific story telling, pulled me into another world and was very much worth reading. The author creates a sense of adventure, tension, and relationships that made it unputdownable for me. An impossible romance, bonds of friendship and loyalty, doing your duty versus following your heart, hatred and prejudice in a turbulent world all make for a wonderful story. Highly recommended, but with the caveat that if the editing and language issues were cleaned up this would have been a five star read.

I absolutely love the long stories of Kathryn. If you want short stories go look for some watered rubbish from somebody else. I live dream and eat and make it my life. Go girl. There are thousands like me that love your books. Dont make them shorter!!
