I am a big fan of Teresa Medeiros. I have enjoyed her books for quite some time. This book is not my favorite of hers, but she is such a talented writer that this book is better than many other books by other writers.Emma is about to marry a very elderly earl to save her family from the work house. Jamie rides into the church and kidnaps her in order to get a certain ransom from the elderly earl. Jamie and the earl are bitter enemies. We learn the reason for the hatred between Jamie and the Earl. And we also learn about the character of the two. Jamie is a hero who is truly heroic. He is the kind of hero readers all want to find in a book.Emma is a strong heroine who knows her mind and exhibits her courage in many ways. The secondary characters are well developed and people who help the story move along. This should be an absolutely perfect book. But, for me it is filled with too many details that seem to be filler. And most of all, I miss the normal humor in a Medeiros book. Usually when I read one of her books, I laugh a great deal. I would have liked more humor and fewer descriptions. It is still a good romance read and I recommend it to anyone who likes a Scottish adventure. what can I say? Teresa Medeiros is the one author that so far has never ceased to amaze me. I have already reviewed several of her books and like all the others, this one was absolutely wonderful. Her writing is so witty. I love a great historical romance that not only has all the steamy elements that a good romance novel is known for, it makes you laugh and smile and just feel altogether good inside. I absolutely love humor in a book and Medeiros never disappoints!
