A boy finds a geode that talks to him... turns out it's a dragon egg! Once the egg hatches, he and his cousin must protect the dragon from a mysterious man who wants the dragon for himself. My son has long told me that this is a very good book. Personally, it left me somewhat cold. I can't decide whether to use it for my library group or not. I have no questions about whether or not they COULD read it... but with so many books in the library sea, is this the one I most want to fish out and promote? The jury is out. Due to his parents being away, Jesse is spending the summer with his cousin Daisy and his aunt and uncle. It proves to be an exciting summer when Jesse stumbles on a Thunder Egg; an egg that hatches a dragon! But Jesse and Daisy are no the only ones excited to see little Emerald the dragon. There are sinister plots around to steal the dragon for nefarious purposes.A cute, humorous story about a grade level up from the Magic Tree House books. A good elementary age fantasy.
I think this book would be a good choice for our younger audience.......3rd
