My 14-year-old daughter made me read this book. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-) Okay, so she left it on the kitchen counter and I picked it up while cooking dinner. After reading a couple of chapters in the middle of the book, I knew it was good enough to read and that my daughter had accurately assessed it. Closing the book, I turned my attention back to dinner. Once my kids were assembled at the table and prayers said, I gave them permission to read and I hastily returned to read this book from the beginning. I think my daughter is the perfect audience for this book. The princess is 14 years old with a dragon. What better possible combination?!This is a coming of age book mixed with a good dose of dragons and adventure so it doesn't become a moralistic tome. Both Calen and Meg grow up a good bit and realize their own power and strength, combined with the potency linked to joining forces with others to devastate evil. Even better, there are a lot of laugh out loud lines in the book. That's great stuff for a novel because those are lessons every teen out there needs to learn in order to grow up to fulfill their own purpose while smiling and laughing through it as well as help others meet theirs too. The Dragon of Trelian is an inventive, charming story. It is almost a coming of age story following a young four-teen year old princess named Meg, and her apprentice mage friend, the orphan Calen. The story is an amazing story of the bounds of friendship, love and trust and their powers to help people over-come their greatest obstacles. I love how the characters transform throughout the story to become better, more capable and stronger in themselves, and in each other.Great, captivating story with a charming story-line. Great read.
What do You think about The Dragon Of Trelian (2009)?
Really is a 3.75...good book, just nothing unusual about it. Sort of blends into all other fantasy.

Compelling characters, great action and a cool dragon--what else could a girl ask for?! ;)
