The Fever Series 5-Book Bundle: Darkfever, Bloodfever, Faefever, Dreamfever, Shadowfever (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I will start by saying, it honestly took me a while to get into the series. A LOT longer than normal.....like I thought the books were ok, just an average 3 rating until I got to maybe the third book. But the details, the clues!, surprises, the character development, and the chemistry and tension - wow - it is all there. I just don't think I appreciated it until the action and kickassery really picked up! And I will say - it was brilliant and very well written. I LOVED the last book....and was sucked into my own universe for a few hours to try to finish the last one....just DYING to know what would happen to Mac! This is one of those series you just don't appreciate until later.....and this is also one of those ones I probably would have appreciated more if I read them NOT ALL AT ONCE! They really just felt soooooo long - especially the first 2-3 books. So if you read....stick through it, I thought it was worth it at the end :)Booksbeyondtheend.com I just finished this on a re-read and loved it all over again. 5 stars means "amazing" and 4 means "really liked it'" I wish there was a 4.5 "Do Not Miss This" star. I give this series a 4.5 This time through I particularly liked Mac even more than usual. So many reviews critize her as immature and annoying, but like JZB, I think she is epic! She wasn't the biggest player in the game, but I think she was the bravest. Yes, it helps to have JZB in your corner, but he was as much of a wildcard as any of them, and at what point could she REALLY go all in trusting him? I just love the ride you go on in this series. Gritty world and gritty charachters. Is it the ultimate love story? No, not exactly and it would have scared the pants off of me (which is probably why I give Mac so much credit.) There are a couple of characters that I just really wish I could get more of and that would be Christian and Jo (jo+Ry.) Yes, I know we see more once the series switches to Dani O'Malley but for some reason I just don't trust everything I read when she is my narrator, so I feel a little cheated. I do love the kid though, but I don't really care as much where that story line is headed. The "other 8" do not greatly interest me. One beast is enough; Dani doesn't need one of her own. Anyway, if i write anything else I will spoil #6 Iced, so I am just going to quit here. I am glad Dani is getting her own story but honestly, I just wish it would have been Christian. I cannot lie, he makes me swoon:)
