It's a very introspective love story. It focuses a lot on religion and spirituality, and that was a turn-off for me. Also, the main character is an older woman with a picture-perfect life, who starts to write to an author who is a Sufi. At the moment, none of that relates to me. I picked up this book because I wanted to learn more about Turkey, but it didn't really help me achieve that goal, besides learning about some history. It had some interested bits about Rumi and one of his friends.The conversations seemed stilted between the Americans and the characters weren't fleshed out, nor were the surroundings. It was mostly a conversation-based book.
