Such a huge cliffhanger at the end. Need the third book RIGHT NOW. This second book in the Millennium trilogy is about a murder mystery of a young couple. To be honest, I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one.It started off real slow in the beginning. There's also some mathematical stuffs like algebras and equations in the first part of then story. They serve no purpose in the story and I could not understand any of the mathematical theories due to my hatred of maths. The story began to pick up on about page 200 which requires much patience to get to the part. As expected, it was another complicated mystery. However it didn't appeal to me as much as the Harriet mystery in the first book. It was certainly very confusing to read through and I had quite a hard time to remember who was who. There's more characters compared to the first book. It would've been an easier read if there was a list of characters' names provided. The story centers around Lisbeth Salander and we get to know more about her in this story. On the other hand, Mikael Blomkvist felt more like a side character to me but I liked him better than The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. There's wasn't much character development as this was a plot driven story. The writing style was the same as usual. A lot of unnecessary description which just made me want to skip them and get to the important parts. Despite that, the writing style still was fairly straightforward and not difficult to understand. 3 stars from me. It didn't meet my expectations but still I'm very looking forward to reading the next book. This book just didn't grab my attention as much as the first book and also some of the situations Salander ends up in just seem ridiculous at best and complete b.s. at worst. Also the plot just kind of meandered around as it chose. It took me a longer amount of time to read through this and much more often I was placing the book down, after making sure I knew which page I left off on, and doing other activities. I liked it but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first novel and it makes me wonder if the third will be worth the venture or just best left on the shelf.
Unputdownable, could not stop reading until I reached the end!
