The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People, And Communities (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I liked this book, a guy who grew up with farming and a mother who fed her community and went back to his roots, by growing organic produce and sharing it with communities that didn't usually have access to fresh produce. He was also instrumental in starting composting programs, getting gardening into schools and working with others to benefit local communities in the Milwaukee area and brought his message south.I'm so glad I live in a community that does these things (FORAGE) and composting businesses. This was also required reading? for incoming freshman at the University of Florida, which I think is great!!! I have recently been involved in getting a garden started in our town since the only grocery store in town left, so the book worm that I am, I have been checking out the urban gardening books from the library to see if there's anything I can glean. This book has me fired up more than ever to get started. So many quotes in this book have stuck in my mind but the main point is to get started instead of just talking about it. Great biography with lessons on food and farming.
