The Liberation Of Alice Love (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
I thought this book had potential. The book is about Alice Love who leads a very well organized life is a victim of identity theft from someone she thought was a friend, She tries tracking the thief down.However, the book does not make good on its promising premise. The book raises questions that it does not answer. Alice bends rules and starts telling lies as the book progresses. The book leaves unanswered the question of whether this is a good thing. Are we supposed to feel nice women finish last or is there some benefit to leading a moral life? The book never resolves Alice's moral dilemmas. Confession - I like chick flicks a lot more than chick lit. If this was a made for TV movie, I'd probably have it saved on my DVR and watch it on Saturday mornings. That said, this was a quick, easy read with predictable plot lines but a bit forgettable.There was a point in the story when Alice was side-eying her sister for having such an easy life. I thought, oh really? Alice lost her entire savings and a few chapters later, her funds have been restored and is on an impromptu trip to Rome. Some situations stretch believability, but who wants to read about a woman dealing with identity theft fallout for years and years? Liked that she was able to break out of her rut and actually have some fun. It was interesting that she learned more about herself by becoming someone else.
