The Motion Of The Ocean: 1 Small Boat, 2 Average Lovers, And A Woman's Search For The Meaning Of Wife (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
If you have a) dreamed of big ocean sails b) traveled with a significant other or c) both - you will find this foray into the trials and tribulations of a spirited relationship between two people, two people and a boat, and two people and the ocean ring very close to home. With such a cheesy title and corny description, I wasn't expecting much but was quickly drawn in and riveted, with only the last 100 pages growing mildly long. The epilogue and Janna's responses to the discussion questions add some appreciated resolution. Why I loved this book:* The entire premise centers around learning to navigate a relation"ship" (marriage)* I'm obsessed with the Romance of nautical/sailing adventures* This book is a free vacation through the Pacific* Some beautiful writing, literary references and clever analogies* I particularly love reading about people following their dreams in life* It's REAL, honest, and not always pretty, but there's a beauty in its truth* This book won't be for everyone, but it really spoke to me on a personal level
