The Naked Truth About Self-Publishing (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
As an independent author, I read this before releasing my first book, and it helped tremendously. I can't recommend this enough to other authors who really want to make a business out of writing without having to do it traditionally, or even switching from traditional to self publishing. I originally bought it to help me with managing an LLC as an author, and soon found so much more. These ladies definitely know what they're doing and talking about, and I look forward to following their fiction books as well. If they can write a how-to on writing that kept me riveted, their books must be fantastic. As a writer myself, I should say first of all that I don't know any of the contributors to this book. I just wish I did. They all come across as talented, professional, sassy and encouraging. This is a cracking read, full of common sense, loads of advice and plenty of inspiration for anyone contemplating taking the plunge into self-publishing. There are some touching rags-to-riches stories in here. The overall style is frank and funny and every contributor is very generous with their knowledge. I really liked their emphasis on working hard, learning your craft, learning the business and, whatever else you do, to keep writing, writing, writing. Highly recommended.
