Gotta say, I really, really enjoyed this one. It had some of the funniest scenes in it so far and boy, I love how Fortune feels more and more at home in this hilarious little town. Also the characters develop more depth as they progress throughout the series, especially this book. Funny, good plot, more believable acting than in the previous books and boy, things with Carter definitely heat up here - so great read overall! I deducted two stars for some very annoying inconsistencies and faulty logic that hurt the flow of the book. They were very annoying, because I really like these books, and this one was treated very sloppily. An identity found on the internet where anyone could find it is not remotely something that needs a "chain of evidence.” To propose that this could not be shared with Deputy Carter is ridiculous. A link to the picture of the victim with his real name could even be shared anonymously. The author wanted an excuse for her characters to "have to" do what she wanted them to do, and that's fine, but tie it up right! At the end of the book, she had the murderer take the murder weapon from the wrong person's shed. Sloppy. If the murderer took the item in question from Gertie's shed, Gertie would have been the one arrested earlier, not Ida Belle.
What do You think about Swamp Sniper (2013)?
The Miss Fortune Mysteries are slapstick comedies that makes me laugh out loud.
