The Other C-Word (In Other Words #1) by M.K Schiller4 StarsThe other C-Word, contrary to my first impressions from the title, was actually a cute story about Marley, an emotionally damaged woman, and Rick Randy, a businessman with an unfortunate name! The two meet at the airport in one of the funniest scenes I have read in a while, I actually laughed out loud and even now thinking back on it I have a stupid grin on my face! They go on to fancy each other and an office fling begins with a somewhat predictable out come. Nothing about this story is unexpected or fresh, Marley holds a sad secret from her past and Rick is kept in the dark about it during most of the book. We are taken through the motions of him trying to uncover the layers of Marley’s personality while she does her best to protect him by hiding her reasons from him. Just because it’s predictable doesn’t mean the book has nothing going for it, because it does. Marley’s family for one, she has some great characters in her family and the love they have for each other comes across to the reader in every action. They are an interesting bunch, the type of family you don’t take your new boyfriend home to meet until he is so in love with you that it would be impossible for him to run!I’m not sure what genre this book is classed as, when I picked it up I just assumed erotica from the cover and title, but after reading I would class it as a chick lit, one that I would file away in my ‘Pink and Fluffy’ reads pile. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading book 2 in the series, ‘The Other F-Word’.Copy supplied for review as part of the tour this book had me laughing and crying at the same time. it's a perfect mix of comedy, drama, romance, a bit of action even. the writing was so witty and decadent like a German chocolate cake. you couldn't wait but share it.clearly the past does not define one's present, moreso one's future. one of those gems that don't need a sequel. the writing was so witty and decadent like a German chocolate cake. you couldn't hell but share while eating it.
