Layla Mathews moves back to Pittsburgh for her job but also to pay back her fathers debts. Ten years earlier she had an accident that put her into a coma and also missing a year from her memory. Now she is waiting in the Sinclair Industries reception area to speak with a Nathan Sinclair as to why her father received money from him at the time she was in her coma. Nathan Sinclair, whose family paid Layla's father money for the accident ten years earlier. Nathan makes Layla sign a contract to stay with him for the two months and must leave Pittsburgh after the two months is up. What we learn is Andrew, Nathan's brother, was in love with Layla but they ended the relationship ten years ago and Nathan wants Layla to be gone before his brother returns.Nathan loved Layla ten years and still loves her but cannot come out and tell her but only to be ruthless in his demands to own her. When threats are made and fear of loosing Layla, Nathan realizes he does not need a contract to keep her but to be honest with his feeling and telling her before it is too late. This author is new to me and one I discovered because her book was a freebie on Kindle. Well it had its' hot moments. And then some. I didn't quite get what was so traumatic about the events that Layla couldn't remember them, but the human mind can be a bit tricky?I didn't like the way Nathan ruled Layla's life, calling in sick for her and so on, and I didn't like the way Layla okey'd it all. She was able to stand up to him at some points, but it seems her libido was in charge of all of her decisions. "Sure I can sell my kidney if you just put your penis back inside of me this instant"-kind of way. And no, she wasn't asked to sell her kidney.
What do You think about The Owner Of His Heart (2000)?
Nathan was a mess. I really enjoyed the book and I can't wait to read The Wild One.
