The Patriots Club (2006) - Plot & Excerpts

The book The Patriots Club, is about a man named Thomas Bolden and his girlfriend Jennifer Dance. These two are the average American couple; Bolden an upper middle class businessman who takes corporate jets to make business deals with other large corporations. While Jennifer is a normal school teacher. This book takes place in New York city around the winter season, and on a date after a large party for the company Thomas worked for the couples' lives would be changed forever. On a walk from the party Thomas gave Jennifer a watch and a man came up and sliced it off of her wrist. Thomas chased the man down and climbed high into an unfinished building where he found Guilfoyle. Thomas was questioned by this man about Crown, and Bobby Stillman. Thomas knew nothing about these two things. Thomas was being forced off the ledge of the unfinished building so he grabbed Wolf (the man who took the watch) and fell back many stories. Thomas got away. So now Thomas and his girlfriend are apart of this huge shady organization, where they are the problems and they must be fixed, meaning to kill them. Thomas gets framed for beating up Diana Chambers, a newswoman and also gets framed for killing Sol Weiss, his boss. Scanlon is the shady corporation that took all of his money away from him as well. Bolden is now on the run from being killed and has to use his resources from his company. J.J. Jacklin, was the owner of Jefferson corporations. He was a creul man that was apart of this club that decided many of the nations' largest secrets. He set up a plot to kill the new President of the United States because she wouldn't join The Club. In the end, Jacklin dies, the president survives and he finds out that Bobby Stillman was his mother who was framed by his father, J.J. Jacklin. I liked every part of this book, it was very fast paced and Iget very interested in deep government conspiracies. This book is set up very similar to the movie Vantage Point. I also liked that the main character had a happily ever after with his wife. I would only recommend this book to older, more advanced readers, because it was a little confusing and there are many different view points. This book should be recommended for people who control the governmennt and use the power behind the throne for their good and not the good of the country.

Im giving this book a second try. The prob i find with it is how fast the story moves yet it is slow in developing the story progression. Its strange really, is like the pace does not reconcile to how the protagonist responds or predict events, he is slow to figure out or anticipate whats happening in his life. Poor writing in my view. That the reader "gets" it and the protagonist doesn't sucks. How can a dude who is supposed to be street smart, very resourceful be so oblivious in the story. Ugh!

What do You think about The Patriots Club (2006)?

This was a rather good book with a couple, Thomas Bolden and his pregnant girlfriend, Jenny Pendelton. The title refers to a group of men from the time of George Washington, and including him, who seek to manipulate events in the nation's history--not unlike Dick Cheney and Halliburton. In this case, the incoming president is not interested in joining said club, and so she is due to be assassinated. Both Thomas and Jenny, mostly Thomas, suffer a lot from this organization and its muscle. There are some surprises at the end.
