The Penderwicks At Point Mouette (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
Another sweet story in this series, which I am reading aloud to my 6-year-old daughter. This time, Daddy and Iantha have gotten married and are off to London on their honeymoon, along with Baby Ben, who is too young to stay home without his mother. Oldest sister Rosalind goes to spend the summer with her friend Abby in New Jersey and thus is not a big part of this book. The three youngest sisters however go to a beach in Maine called Point Mouette and, to everyone’s delight, are joined by their old friend Jeffrey! (from book #1) Jeffrey teaches youngest sis Batty to play music, and he is allowed to play piano in next-door neighbor Alan’s house. A surprise twist: Alan turns out to be Jeffrey’s dad! Skye grows into her role as OAP (“Oldest Available Penderwick”) and gradually relaxes and doesn’t feel she is going to kill Batty by accident any given second and she also develops a love interest in neighbor Dominic. Narrated by Susan Denaker, wonderful as she was in the previous 2 books.Another great story with the Penderwick family. Although not a perfect as her first novel this one recaptures some of the magic of summertime adventures. Skye stands in as OAP. Rosalind gets a chance to be a teenage girl. Jane is dramatic and endearing as usual. Batty gains a little independence but most excitedly, Jeffrey comes back as a main character in Point Mouette.
What do You think about The Penderwicks At Point Mouette (2011)?
Not believable. I don't see how it and the second got an award. I am sorry, but it wasn't that good!

Another great installment. The boys don't know what to do now that we have read all of these books.

This book was just okay - not nearly as interesting as Book#1.
