Bobby Pendragon is devstated when Saint Dane wins the territory of Quillian. Quickly moving onto another territory called Ibara, at first he finds what looks like paradise: the people are happy and live peacful lives; they don't have to worry about giant robots called dados that Mark accidently invented killing off thier civilation...yet.After escaping a swarm of deadly quig-bees and being arrested for being an "Outsider", Bobby meets a young rascal thief named Siry, who is the son of the Travler man called Remudi who killed himself in the Grand X at Quillian.Bobby must go through the tough process of telling Siry about Travelers, but Siry makes it even harder when he kiddnaps him, bringing him to the headquaters of a group called the "Jakills", and refuses to listen. Siry tells him, 'You were brouht here becuase I want to know why my father died. Tell me.'In order to tell Siry about his father, he will first have to tell him about the Travelers, but Siry doesn't want to hear that. He wants to hear about his father. Bobby argues that the only way he can tell him is that he must listen to him when he tries to tell him about the Travelers. But by this time, Siry (who is leader of the Jakills) has gotten so caught up in his leaderly duties that he ignors Bobby Pendragon altogether. But when the island gets attacked by Flighters, the Jakills must try to stop them; Siry is forced to take Bobby with them becuase if he is left alone at the Jakill camp, who knows what he might do?After finally defeating the Flighters, Siry tells him why they are outlaws: the tribunal (the goberment of the island) have been keeping secrets from the people of Ibara, and the Jakills are the only kids who want to know the truth.Siry talks Bobby into helping them steal a boat so they can sail away and finally learn the truth about thier little island. What they find if the biggest surprise of thier lives.
The eighth book in Pendragon series begins with Bobby and Courtney arriving on Third Earth. They are trying to contact Patrick, the Traveler from Third Earth, and see what he can tell about the events that lead to the changes on Second Earth. They are surprised discover that Third Earth has undergone changes as well. Through his research Patrick is able to tell the duo that Mark and him introducing his forge technology on First Earth has caused the devastating changes in both territories. So the two travel to First Earth in search of their friend, but eventually split up as Bobby travels to Ibara to track down Saint Dane. Ibara is a territory governed by a council, the Tribunal, that is determined to keep intact the simple lifestyle that their live. While on the territory Bobby meets Siry, son of the Traveler Remudi, and his friends, the Jakills, who believe that the Tribunal is keeping secrets from the people of Ibara. So they team up and steal a ship to find the answers that they are seeking. Meanwhile on First Earth, Courtney meets Dodger, Gunny's actolytes, and the two go off and search for Mark and try to stop him from mass producing Forge. Their adventure, much like Bobby's, is filled with great peril and suspense. Dark secrets will be discovered as the hero's try to prevent Saint Dane's "Convergence". I liked this book because it is clear to see the character evolution of Pendragon as he grows tired of the ongoing battle with Saint Dane. The excellent use of foreshadowing is another reason that I enjoyed reading this book. Elements from the beginning of the story have major impacts later on.
What do You think about The Pilgrims Of Rayne (2007)?
For those of you who watched Silver Linings Playbook, you remember that scene when Bradley Cooper’s character threw Ernest Hemmingway’s book out the window? That’s was my reaction when I finished The Pilgrims of Rayne (I threw it on the bed though). This book was a roller-coaster ride of emotions. I had no idea what to expect since the last book ended with a cliff-hanger. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, it did. Man, Saint Dane is a real piece of work. He messes with people’s m

As much as I enjoyed reading the adventures of Courtney and Dodger back on First Earth, there was just something a little "off" about the dimension of Ibara. I admit that the shocknig truth behind that territory really took me back, but the hopelessness of the situation Pendragon found himself in was very dark.[return][return]In the end, the big question still remains: did he do the right thing? This was the second time he started throwing out all the rules and the end result was the act of a desperate man... but was it all in vain?[return][return]As for First Earth, the same questions are asked. Who was truly saved? After all that went down, what's wrong with Mark's logic?[return][return]It seems that the Travellers and Acolytes have been battling Saint Dane for too long and have grown a bit too self-assured, even in their utter exhaustion. And that's going to cost them dearly.[return][return]A good read, but not as strong as the previous ones. But the end is definitely coming. Even if the heroes seem to have given up.

Have you ever wanted to take a character and just shake them until they started to think clearly? THis is Bobby in this novel for me. This is when you feel things start to really heat up. Bobby's now on Ibara, with it's bees for quigs. Ibara is a tropical paradise, but there's so many secrets in the jungle paradise. There's clues hidden in plain site about the past of Ibara, but there's been so much time between the two points that it's easy to miss the clues. We're treated to the outcome of one world, and a new battle that causes many mistakes to occur. The way that this book went, I don't feel comfortable saying too much about the plot, because so much begins to matter in this and the next few books. THe way it ended though was what shook me. I couldn't believe that things had actually gotten so bad for the Travelers that it came to this. It culminated in one act of selflessness and selfishness by Bobby Pendragon.
