A sob behind him made me whip my gaze to one side. My mother? “Oh my God. Meagan. Are you okay?” She leaned over Parker and then cupped my face. I twisted my head around in both directions. I was in my parents’ living room on the couch. The sun was streaming in from the front picture window. Several people were milling about. I pushed myself to sitting with Parker’s help. “I’m fine. Did I faint?” “Yes.” Parker spun to sit beside me, not releasing my hand.
