The Reality Of You (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I love the characters in this book. Its my favorite. And their banter. So funny and witty. My favorite would have to be Naomi. A bit closed off, always in her book, and has an anxiety attack when faced with her ultimate dream boat. My favorite thing about her underneath her nerdy self is an intensely passionate woman. I just love her character. And Reece, he seems too good to be true, and yet we see a human side of him, later on. I love the relationship between Naomi and her friends. Even with Grace, her relationship with them added the book with humor.Overall a great read, but the three stars is because as much as I love the book, the chemistry between Naomi and Reece somewhat felt lacking. Just a little, with Naomi's tendency to daydream about a knight and shinning armor, Reece was a different reality for me.And there were a little inconsistencies with the plot especially towards the end. Just minor tweaks. But still, I'm sure everyone would enjoy reading this book :) The Reality Of You is a sexy, sarcastic, romantic comedy that will cause you to laugh and swoon. Admittedly, I was a little skeptical when I first started reading due to how Naomi starts her little crush on the main man Reese. In my opinion, it could have gone either way between being completely cheesy and turning into something pretty good. Thankfully, it turned into something pretty darn good and I enjoyed reading the banter and sexual tension that occurs between Naomi and Reese.Naomi has decided that she will no longer date, ever. It does nothing but cause heart ache and she has had enough of it, she is happy to work and go home. That has been the routine for months, one that she has no problems with, but her best friend, Kara, has other things to say about it. Kara, pushes Naomi into an unconventional situation. Knowing it’s a bit crazy doesn’t matter because she doesn’t want her best friend to ultimately turn into a cat lady.It is from here that things get interesting. Naomi shows a sarcastic and strong personality that constantly has her going up against Reese. He has a dominant billionaire personality that is not used to those who work for him talking back as much as Naomi. He is also not sure when he has ever met someone who is as uncoordinated as she is, causing havoc throughout their time together. Soon they both begin to discover the little thing about each other that not many people get to see. Learning what makes each other happy and the pains of the past, seeing each other beyond the sarcasm and egotistical fronts.Things begin to get heated and there is a sexual tension that is developed under all the sarcasm and annoyance. While Naomi doesn’t want to ever do that dating thing, she is starting to think that maybe she can just do a fling type thing. It doesn’t have to be serious or go anywhere. It just needs to be fun and Reese is perfect for that because he is a billionaire playboy who is not looking to settle. He doesn’t want long term, she doesn’t want long term and while they tend to be at constant wars of witty responses, it’s all a bit sexy so why the hell not? It’s a great plan until Naomi starts to feel more and soon realizes that not everything is what she thought. There are lies and tricks that have been played and she now has to figure out how she feels and what she will do next.
