The Replacement Wife (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Quentin Chambers is the wealthy father of five, who has spent the last five years of his life mourning the death of his beloved wife Chandra Chambers. The day of her funeral, he met her alleged childhood friend, Chloe Brooks. Chloe has since been his rock—happy to play the role of girlfriend while helping to spend his money. However, Chloe suddenly wants stability and begins to press Quentin for a more permanent position is his life. Quentin’s mother, Estelle Chambers, is not pleased with the state of affairs since Chandra’s passing. Not only is she aware that Chloe is a fraud and an opportunist, she is saddened that Quentin has turned his back on his children, the church, and his music ministry. Estelle hires Montana Ellis as a nanny for the children, because she is determined to get the Chambers estate back in order. She is also hopeful that Montana will help bring true love, music and faith back into their household.Tiffany L. Warren weaves a predictable but enjoyable tale of love and redemption with the Replacement Wife. The storyline flows effortlessly and the characters are convincing and relatable. The subplot of Quentin’s cancer treatment center, Transitions, is a clever addition as the patients bring more energy and sentiment to the already emotionally-charged plot. The Replacement Wife is enlightening without being “preachy.” It’s a heartwarming and uplifting read that I would definitely recommend to those who appreciate a genuine love story.RATING: 5 STARSMichelle CuttinoAAMBC Reviewer VestigesIt’s been five years since Quentin Chambers' wife, Chandra died. Her loss is still felt daily. Though it appears that he’s moved forward, Quentin is still very angry with God, and as a result, he’s so busy trying to live, that his children usually get lost in the mix. Estelle, his mother, has tried to keep the kids on the right track. Unfortunately she realizes that she’s going to need a little more help in that department.Chloe and Quentin have been together for five years. While she loves the privileges that she’s afforded as Quentin’s girlfriend, she's looking for that walk down the aisle. Not overly fond of his living situation, she’s certain there’s a boarding school for the kids and that her mother-in-law to be will just fall by the wayside. When Estelle informs Quentin that she’s hiring a nanny, he doesn’t seem to think the kids need a nanny. But when he meets Montana Ellis, a sister from the church, he and the children seem to welcome her right in. Sparks seem to fly between Quentin and Montana. But this is a job that Montana needs and he’s involved with Chloe.Chloe’s bells and whistles are alerting her to the danger that Montana can be to her relationship. She’s certain that Estelle has something up her sleeve. When she suggests that she and Estelle work in conjunction to plan a benefit for Quentin’s favorite charity, her intentions are to make Montana and ally against Estelle. But what she soon realizes is that she’s battling a much stronger battle.THE REPLACEMENT WIFE by Tiffany L. Warren was a good read. I liked the title, the cover and the characters. I was in and fully invested from start to finish. As with Warren's stories, her music lulls you as her writing continues to entertain. I would LOVE to see these characters in the future with a focus on Reese or Emoni.Reviewed by: Crystal
