I loved the first book and was just as taken with the second. This time Cat has to contend with the boys soccer team as well as her sister's weird magic act that seems to be sending all her assistants into a coma. Cat knows something is up, but she can't quite put her finger on it. Soccer rules her thoughts once again, but this time its boys versus girls and Cat is determined to beat them. When a mysterious winter befalls the town and everyone seems to frozen on the spot, Cat must keep her wits about her and rally her friends to save the town once again from certain doom. Another great installment and we will certainly be grabbing the next in the series. This sequel to Grim Hill will not disappoint. It was a fantastic read that I believe all children in middle school should have a chance to read. Besides the magic, the characters are just like them. Perhaps I enjoyed this book so much because I saw a lot of myself in Cat. Determined and stubborn to get her way. She won't back down when she has an ambtion and she will do all she can to get her way. I loved Sukie's character, it was very well written. I must admit I liked Clive. His arguments with Cat reminded me of my arguments with my crush. My favourite scene had to be when the teacher rambled off about famous woman scientists and Cat can give that smirk right back to Clive. Actually, the two would make a cute couple. For middle school that is.
