"Everyday in Paris isn't always so sweet." I read several books on Paris and they always talk about how perfect Paris is. I have been there and Paris is an amazing place but is everything about Paris perfect? No. I love the author's willingness to talk about not so great part of living in Paris, which the place he loves. His witty of describing the life in Paris made me fall in love with the city all over again. Based on the writing alone I would give this book only two or three stars. Every short section ended with a witty sentence that tied back into some earlier incident in the story. It seemed forced to me. I do like that the stories were punctuated with recipes. Because of the amazing recommendations of things to eat throughout the book and in the back section, I have given four stars. I am in Paris right now eating a chunk of Poilâne bread slathered with Bordier butter. Nothing could be better.
This cheerful part memoir/part cookbook almost made me taste the crispy baguettes on the Seine.
