Gewey's dad dies and leaves him to take care of the farm. He does, even at an early age and helps the town where he lives. A darkness has spread over the land because of Agraal- the black knight. Agraal has sealed the heavens so Gods cannot help on Earth and he wants to take over. He is evil. Lee helps Gewey understand who he is and they join together to help save the world from the evil that is coming. A good adventure story including elves, half-gods, and a bit of romance from Gewey and Kaylia. I enjoyed reading this book the first in the series of The Godling Chronicles. It is a voyage of discovery for our hero with the unlikely name of Gewey. He starts his journey accompanied by his mentor Leigh Starfinder and Starfinder's more than capable servant Millet as they travel on a quest that starts out as a quest to defeat the Dark Knight and his minions. Along the way they encounter Elves long time enemies of Humans. Over time they discover that they have to find a way to heal the rift between the two races in order to overcome their common enemy. I have enjoyed reading this first installment and look forward to reading the other books in the series. My only complaint is the action scenes are a little few and far between. The battles could be fleshed out a tiny bit more. Hey, that is just me. In any case I shall read on.
Writing quality varies wildly from just mediocre to some of the worst I have ever read.
