The Time Traveller's Almanac (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Really hit and miss in this giant anthology of Time Travel related short stories. I was immediately turned off by the opening 10 Tips when the first one wasn't a tip at all. I then started from the beginning and didn't enjoy the first two, so decided to read ones from authors I recognized and that worked for one, but not another. I found a great one at the start of the mazes section but don't have much confidence that I'll try too many more of them with the low success rate.Perhaps they just tried to get all time travel shorts they could license to put in it, irregardless of quality of actual story? Overall a really good compilation. Certainly some stories were better than others, whatever. If I have one complaint it's that some of the stories seem like they counted on the time travel to be. Surprise twist. Obviously in a compilation of time travel stories, it's not.But it's a lot of book, and worth it if it sounds interesting, it's remarkable how many ways there are to approach this single idea.
