The Tools: Transform Your Problems Into Courage, Confidence, And Creativity (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
The entire time I was reading this I felt like a patient who just wasn't getting it. The concepts made sense but weren't concrete to the point being tangible, which was what I needed. Case in point, attempting to visualize my shadow- I came up with nothing. And I know I'm a hotbed of insecurity. Because I enjoyed the writing style I give it 2 stars, but it definitely lost practicality points for me. I didn't find anything ground breaking about this book. Anyone who has basic training in counselling already have all the 'tools' in this book. Anyone who has had a good counselor or has read other self help books probably have these skills already. Basically, the concepts are all centered around positive self talk, meditation and self fulfilling prophecies. The authors changes the words, but they meaning is the still the same.
