The Transformation Of Things: A Novel (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
I really liked this book and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a simple and easy to read story with a satisfying twist. I'm sure nobody has ever even watched the W network show called Mysterious Ways but it reminded me of an episode of that show in an enjoyable way.... Lol. I liked this book as much or perhaps even more than Margot and am excited for Jillian Cantor's next book to hit the shelves. The Transformation of ThingsJillian Cantor My mom recommended this to me right before I flew home to Raleigh to visit this past June, and it provided the perfect escape on the plane. Flying across the U.S. is often a 5-7 hour ordeal, so this filled that time frame perfectly. A Judge is convicted of bribery and disbarred, left to rebuild his marriage and career. This book is in the wife's perspective as she deals with this shift in their home and dynamic. Suddenly, amidst all this change, the woman finds that in her dreams she can feel and see through the perspectives of those around her. She is able to understand their deepest fears and thoughts as she feels them for herself. As a psychology major and people-watching enthusiast, I really enjoyed this book and found myself thinking twice when I went to judge my coworker's behavior or friend's weird tick. Sometimes we just don't know what's going on in our neighbor's head. Not the best book or writing I've read, but enjoyable story and thought-provoking concept.
