The Truth About Mack (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I guess with this book I won’t be able to make a coherent review so I will make a list of random thoughts with no order whatsoever:1. I thought this was going to be a dark book, and it had some pieces (yeah there was sex, and some uses of sexual aspects but not like in other dark books). If I had to use a word to describe it, it would probably be TWISTED. (Pay attention that I wrote it in Caps because OMG seriously!!!!)2. Mack and Gia had a serious case of love and hate relationship. It was more of an envious “friendship” than a selfless innocent best friend kind of book. 3. My GOD how many secrets can there be. Even on the freaking Epilogue there were secrets!4. Ok so throughout the book there were times where I just wanted to forget about the book and start with something new but then a secret was revealed and I kept on reading. I even thought that I was not going to read Gianna’s side… but then again I read chapter 28 and the epilogue and so I feel like I need to read the other side. 5. I guess that just as in real life there are always two sides to a story, after reading this one, I ended up wishing Mack the best and kind of feeling a bit angry with Gia and what she hid. But I guess that when I read her book my opinion is probably going to change… so that is actually making me second guess starting that book. 6. Man was this book a rambling of a crazy person. There was a moment in the plot that had me laughing because even the characters couldn’t understand what was happening with each other. 7. Sometimes it was exasperating the back and forth between past and present without an order because the age was not respected. Mack told fragments from when they were 5 and then from when they were 17 and back again. But that was the beauty of the book… the truth has ways to come out and this back and forth was what kept me reading. I read Mack’s side first and Gia’s later… I guess you could read them however you like…. But I did see a pro with what I did. In Mack’s book you get the little secrets that surround the big lie that is uncovered on Gia’s book. By stating this I’m not saying Mack’s side is less important… My God was it needed to understand everything…. Both books have similar elements and plot lines but each author gave them something personal. The book written by Jettie was crazier or more erratic (I really don’t know how to describe it) She is excellent writing about characters that have mental issues. The book by M. Robinson was the book of liars and desperate people (honestly I haven’t read her books but they are calling me after this). So even when the story and characters are the same each author gave them personalities depending on who the narrator was ( I hope people understand what I’m saying I feel like I am rambling) After reading both books I still feel that there are more stories especially after that goddamn epilogue! To end my review I will say this, both authors deserve a huge round of applause because both books are so masterfully written and so well intertwined that all your senses will be focused on whats next. My mind keeps trying to rationalize both sides and seriously I can’t. So if you have a chance and don’t mind reading some MAYORLY TWISTED books grab them both First off I am want start off by saying and I am very anxious person and when something effects me, it REALLY effects me!! This book had my heart racing and found myself having to put it down many times and walk away. I am normally not like that when I read a book I really like. The emotions and the ups and downs Mack was having I felt like I experienced it myself. Kudos to Jettie for a phenomenal story and well written at that....Now I am off to Gia's story.
