Cara, who now knows that she is not only related to the Hunters, a clan led by the evil Beloved, who has sworn to destroy the unicorns, but also to the unicorns themselves, must again undertake a perilous journey. This time she is on the hunt for a lost prophecy that will save the unicorns and prevent Beloved from entering Luster and wiping out the unicorns once and for all. During that quest, Cara discovers a secret about the unicorns past, a secret involving the Whisperer. What is this evil creature’s connection to the unicorns and what will that mean for Cara and her friends and family? Things turn a bit dark in this installment, a final battle is coming and the tension is palpable throughout the book. It was a grand adventure and a perfect set up to the finale. -Miss JessicaThis title is available from PPLC in print and audio format HERE(less) I want to start by saying I feel the first two books in this series are middlegrade fantasy and this book is more young adult fantasy. In Dark Whispers, Bruce Coville has added a wiseness and maturity to Cara that seemed False in the first two books. Cara must face the reality of real loss in Dark Whispers and I found that I cared more because not everything was sunshine and roses.I really enjoyed this trip to Luster. The storyline didn’t really advance that much but Coville explained SO much of the back story and the ins and outs of it all that I was okay with it. The only issue I really had was the pacing. It seemed that the first three quarters of the book crawled and then everything exciting was jammed into the last 115 pages or so. Also there was a huge cliffhanger that has me wanting to jump right into the next book!

I grew up reading these books and waiting for the next ones to come out. They are just as good as I remember them being, maybe even better now! This book never disappointed me and you didn't have to really read the first two books to know whats going on. It was constant guessing and mysterious. It was so much fun to read about all the characters again and the new adventures. I can't wait to read The Last Hunt!

It was really good, a combination of fantasy and fiction, and the last page sure was a cliff-hanger.
