The Weight Of Words (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I loved this book, even though it started out very slow. I’m still longing for this very hot scene. And I’m not talking about an expliciet scene or anything, but Georgina, let them make out. For real. And I know it wan’t in the books for this one but I hope that it will be in the next one! I loved Daniel though. He really is a sweet guy. And I was doubting him in the beginning of the book. But when I got to read a few chapters from his point of view, everything became clear. He’s nice, she is a plain girl; I loved how it seemed that this story really is possible in normal daily life. He’s her TA so they can’t really be openly in a relationship and even though she wants it, he wants it and even his parents want it. It can’t be. At the ending of the book there is this difficult situation between the two of them. Stay ‘together’ platonically or ‘break-up’ a relationship that hasn’t really started yet. But I think the best part of this whole book were the few last chapters. And I loved them, I really did. There wasn’t really suspense, but that wasn’t really necessary. I’ll leave this review a bit short, but I want to say that I’m still doubting if I will read the second book. I want to but I hope this month that they still have to avoid each other goes by quickly. This book is worth 3.5 stars and the song I chose is very fitting. It’s called ‘The story of us’ by Taylor Swift.“Now I'm standing alone in a crowded roomAnd we're not speakingAnd I'm dying to knowIs it killing youLike it's killing me?YeahI don't know what to say since a twist of fate, when it all broke downAnd the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now”-Taylor Swift This was a well written book about the forbidden romance between Aubrey (student) and Daniel (TA) due to non-fraternization university policy. I liked how Shakespeare’s works were integrated into the story. For instance the tutorial discussion on Antony and Cleopatra and the innuendos that Aubrey and Daniel were experiencing at that time was smartly portrayed. Also it was interesting to read about campus life in Canada. The only thing that put me off slightly was Aubrey’s immature infatuation with Daniel prior to them revealing their true feelings for one another.
