The Well's End (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

im guessing there will be a next one since there was quite a cliffhanger at the end. i am not sure how much i liked it really. it was fast paced and for the most part i liked the three friend clique of outsiders in a rich too spoiled school. i did not like the drinking so much. i did not brayden- too wishy washy and the mc shouldnt have believed him to begin with. still i liked the plot and the action and the idea of the well and map. I really hate when books end before the climax (as opposed to a cliffhanger ending where the author leaves something dangling AFTER the climax). In The Well's End, everything moved along fairly well until the last quarter of the book where it meandered, losing steam until the non-climactic non-climax. There were many times when I wondered if the author even knew where he was going with the storyline, and the abrupt ending seemed to reinforce my suspicions. Rather than a buildup of suspense, there was a breakdown on several levels. First, there is the meandering; second, the betrayal can be seen coming from the very beginning; and third, the constant kissing when there should escaping all serve to dampen any sense of urgency. This book just really needed to get through the climax. What was otherwise an interesting and unique story, ended up bland. The main romance also needed to be earned.

What do You think about The Well's End (2014)?

I was pleasantly surprised on this one. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens.
