I love reading about super smart women who can take care of themselves. Elizabeth has a rough start in life with a control freak mother who plans every aspect of her daughter's life, from what she eats and wears, to what she reads or as Elizabeth says "every minute of every day." At 16 Elizabeth finally rebels and witnesses a double murder by the Russian mafia. Liz calls 911 and is taken into the witness protection program, however, two agents are bought off, but another agent buys time enough for her to run. Can a super smart 17 year old take down the Russian Mafia? No, but what happens when she runs into a good cop 11 years later? Probably only a 3.5, but it was nice to have a woman who manages her own rescue, plus, 11 years later she has a dog. This book was awesome. I would have to say out of all the book I've read from Nora Roberts (Including her .....In Death series under JD Robb) this is one of my all time favorites. This book has everything-romance, suspense, action, humor etc. I've read this book many times, and I always get teary eyed. How can you not feel for young Liz? And then years later as Abagail?I must say Ilya, made my heart swoon in the beginning. He was everything a young rebellious teenage girl wants. The book is very moving and I like how it is split up in the points of view-Elizabeth, Brooks, Abagail, Elizabeth etc. I always have tears in my eyes when I read this book, but in the end they are happy tears. The only thing I could wish for is to find out how it all ends for everyone-the bad people, the leaks, bad cops etc. You can let your imagination run away and figure that they got whats coming to them, but still. I would have liked something.I would recommend this book. And I will read it several more times to come.
What do You think about The Witness (2012)?
One of my favorite Nora Roberts books. Loved the plot and loved the heroine.
