There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story Of My Mother And Me (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I applaud Brooke Shields for being honest in writing her story and sharing such personal and very painful events of her life. It is not a book one should judge in its writing style or really judge it at all. It is her story. As a child, still nieve about the world, and at the same time taking the role of a mother at such a young age, is mind boggling. If you thought you even had an idea of who this woman is, you will be surprised. A kid in the seventies, a young woman in the eighties, Brooke Shields takes the reader behind the beautiful smile. The Brooke Shields book, I HAD to read...after all, EVERYONE is talking about it....=) So, I went ahead and put my name on the list to see what she had to say, and I must say, I really enjoyed it. Is she a bit biased on her opinions of her difficult relationship with her mother? Perhaps, but, then again, it IS her mother and there is nothing more convoluted than a girl's relationship with her mother, regardless of fame & fortune. So, I quite enjoyed her perspective on things, her fame, movie memories & her ups and downs in her maternal relationship. It was definitely interesting & am glad I read it.

What do You think about There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story Of My Mother And Me (2014)?

Bad editing but I was riveted...sooo relatable. Last 20% or so cried buckets...very sad.

Very honest account about alcoholism and her conflicting feelings about her mother.

Interesting but long-winded and a bit repetitive.
