There's Something I've Been Dying To Tell You (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I listened to the audiobook, so that may have had an impact on my thoughts on this review. I feel bad saying anything negative about this book, but I really struggled to get through it. It jumps all over the place and some of the stories were a bit long winded. There were some bits that made me chuckle. The way they named her bag Furby, and the custom jugs she had in her handbag. I liked the part about not liking a particular person which they took to court and now she will be haunting them forever! If you want to read an inspiring and motivating book then this is not a book for you. It's quite detailed about living with cancer. You can sense her pain, depression and bitterness throughout the book. (Which is completely understandable). RIP Lynda. A brilliant actress. I always admired Lynda Bellingham she had a way about her of being down to earth even though she was a celebrity, all through her life no matter what she was doing in interviews she always let people know that the most important people to her were her family and her friends. After hearing of her illness and that she had written this book whilst going through treatment I wanted to read it to see if it was as frank as she has always been in life, I started reading a few days after buying it and there were parts in it that really did have me laughing out loud and giving me mental images of her doing whatever she was describing. How could anybody make something as serious as colon cancer and it's treatment seem like nothing at times and how she coped with the major changes to her life after the perforated colon and being fitted with a bag, which she nicknamed Furby, and how her day of receiving her OBE was such a lovely memory that even though she was battling terminal cancer at the time she still made that day and it was one of her greatest memories and even then she was still thinking about others.Right through this book she still seems to always be thinking of others, particularly how it will affect her family when she died and her love for Michael and her children and family, especially her sister, Jean, shone through and even when the cancer was really bad still the things that upset her most were not being able to do things for her family.I'm so glad I read this book I would imagine anybody going through this terrible illness will get an insight of how to deal with the changes it makes to your life and hopefully put some fears at rest as she has described some pretty horrific things but in a way to make you realise that yes it's hard, it's painful but it's not as important as those around you. I felt considering what she was going through very few times was she self centered and only towards the end did she have a few kind of "Why me?". Excellent book would recommend it to anybody and I don't usually read autobiographies.
What do You think about There's Something I've Been Dying To Tell You (2014)?
Really sad but she was so up beat all the way through this book so it doesn't get depressing.
