Things I've Been Silent About: Memories (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

The author describes her relationship with her mother and father and other members of her family. Her relationship with her mother was fraught with clashes, probably because they were much alike in temperament. She idealizes her father. For a few years the father who had been mayor of Terrain was in jail, a political prisoner. She writes about the time before the Revolution and then the changes that came to Iran. Also she writes about her experiences as a student in England, Switzerland, and the United States. I found the book compelling, partly because of the insights into Iranian culture, but also because of the frank and intimate revelations of the author about her family.
