I stupidly read this on a flight and proceeded to cry the entire time. It was a cramped elbow to elbow flight so publicly being moved to tears was a bit much. The book is brilliant! Absolutely wonderful stories. My son's university suggested the book for parents and students to read during his first semester. I thoroughly enjoyed each page. The short stories are sometimes sad, moving and overwhelming to the senses. It's a lovely read about how beautiful human beings can be when faced with adversity. This is the second "This I Believe" book I have read. These short essays are based on the radio show of the same name. The subtitle is "The Remarkable Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women" tells it all. The essayists range from high school students to astronauts flying over our earth, from the working man to famous singers, writers, artists. Here are some of the beliefs: I believe in failure. I believe in what I learn at the grocery store. I believe in my dog. I believe in sticking my nose into other people's business. I believe in strange blessings. I believe in the extraordinary power of music. I believe we are all different in our own ways. Reading these essays made me think about what I believe and why. Great, great collection.
More short essays, similar to the original book; good read.
