This Is A Call: The Life And Times Of Dave Grohl (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
Great book tracing the history of Rock N Roll's nicest bloke - Dave Grohl. If you're not a fan of Nirvana or the Foo Fighters then this might be a bit slow but i loved it. Very vanilla compared to other rock stories like Scar Tissue, Slash and the Dirt but then Dave has always been about the music and not the lifestyle. Its easy to see from his story why he is so well respected and liked in the music industry - a great story of a budding muscian becoming a Rock God! Given the subject matter, it's perhaps ironic that the first few chapters struggled to find any rhythm. The Tale of Dave weaves in, out and all about the history of the punk rock scene, at times losing sight of it's primary subject matter. However, as the book progresses, this background information becomes the context to the main story, and it does eventually help with understanding the place that Dave Grohl occupies as a Rock n Roll legend.Informative, interesting, entertaining and affectionate--This is a Call is great read for fans of punk rock, Nirvana, the Foo Fighters or just Dave Grohl.
