This Is Not The Story You Think It Is...: A Season Of Unlikely Happiness (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
After reading her essay I was interested to read her memoir. Parts of the book I really liked and others I thought were actually insufferable. I grew tired of her constantly telling us about being unpublished and about pushing back on her privileged background. I do wish she had spent more time focusing on the crisis of the summer and how she and her children handled it. I felt that I learned more about it in the essay than in the book. Parts of the book were very relatable and overall I think the message she delivers is a positive one. My pastor recommended this book to me, not because my husband has said "I don't love you, and I'm not sure I ever did," but because he knew that this book could apply to anyone enduring a tough relationship. I appreciate Munson's honesty as she shares, sometimes moment by moment, the hardest thing I can imagine in a marriage. This book was like therapy for me. And, since I checked it out from the library, free therapy at that. :)

I really enjoyed this book. Her message resonated with me. The rantings didn't bother me.
